Terms of Use
Effective date: July 8, 2026
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the operator of the Recordify service ("Recordify", "we", "us", or "our") governing your use of the Recordify mobile application, the Recordify web application, and any related services we make available (together, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, opening, or using Recordify, you agree to these Terms. If you create a Recordify account, you will also be asked to accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy at registration, and we keep a record of that acceptance (including the document version and time). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2. Who may use Recordify (age)
Recordify is a general-audience product and is not directed to children. You must be old enough to form a binding agreement and to use the Service where you live. The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in some regions, where local law sets a higher age). If we learn that we have collected information from a child below the applicable age in a way that requires deletion, we will take reasonable steps to address it. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
3. The Service — what Recordify is
Recordify is an instant voice-capture app. It is built so that, when you open it, your thought is already being recorded — there is no stop button to hunt for, and any natural gesture (tap, Back, Home, Power) stops and saves your recording.
- Local-first by default. Recording, playback, your library, folders, search, favorites, text notes, reminders (delivered as local device notifications), trash with a recovery window, and share/export all work on your device. Your recordings and related data are stored on your device unless you turn on a feature that sends them elsewhere. You can use the core app without creating an account.
- Optional Recordify account. You may create an account (email and password) to unlock cloud features. Some features (such as cloud backup and server-side transcription) require one, and cloud upload also requires a verified email address.
- Optional cloud backup. If you are signed in and you turn on cloud backup, your recordings and related metadata are uploaded to and stored in Recordify's private cloud storage so they can be restored or (on eligible plans) synced across devices. Cloud backup is off unless you enable it. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
- Optional transcription. Transcription converts your speech to text. When you use it, your audio is processed off your device by a third-party speech-to-text service acting on our behalf. Using transcription means you are choosing to have that audio sent for processing. Transcription is subject to plan allowances (Section 9).
- Web app. Account functions (such as email verification, password reset, and account settings) are available at app.recordify.com.
- Your own third-party backup (optional). The app can optionally back up recordings to your own third-party storage account that you connect yourself. That backup goes directly from your device to your account with that provider under that provider's terms; the credentials stay on your device.
Anything we describe as planned or future may change, be delayed, or not ship at all.
4. Your recordings and content
You are responsible for the recordings, transcripts, notes, titles, and other content you create or store with Recordify ("your content"). You decide what to record, keep, transcribe, back up, share, or delete. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything important to you (Section 8). You confirm you have the rights needed to record, store, transcribe, and share your content, and that doing so does not violate the law or anyone else's rights.
5. Recording others — consent and legal compliance
You are responsible for how and whom you record.
Laws about recording conversations differ widely. Some places allow recording with the consent of just one party to the conversation; others require the consent of all parties. Rules vary by country, state, region, and situation, and they can be strict — including wiretapping and eavesdropping laws. It is your responsibility to know and follow the recording, consent, and privacy laws that apply where you are and where the people you record are. Recordify is a tool: we do not provide legal advice, and we are not responsible for how you choose to record other people or for any consequences of doing so. If you are unsure whether you may lawfully record a conversation, get appropriate consent and, if needed, consult a qualified attorney before recording.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Recordify to do anything unlawful or harmful, including to:
- Break any applicable law or regulation, including recording, consent, wiretapping, privacy, or data-protection laws.
- Record, store, upload, or share content you do not have the right to, or that infringes someone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, defame, or harm others, or invade their privacy.
- Share your account credentials, or access or use someone else's account without permission.
- Upload or transmit malware, or attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or any related systems, or circumvent usage limits, quotas, plan restrictions, or security measures.
- Resell, rent, or provide the Service to third parties as your own service.
- Use the Service to create content that is illegal where you are.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you misuse it or violate these Terms (Section 13).
7. Transcription accuracy — no guarantee
Transcription is a convenience feature and is not guaranteed to be accurate. Transcripts are produced by automated speech-to-text technology and may contain errors, omissions, or misheard words. Accuracy can be affected by audio quality, accents, background noise, terminology, and other factors. Do not rely on a transcript as a verbatim, official, or certified record — the original audio is the source recording. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting transcripts before relying on them for any important purpose. Recordify is not a medical, legal, or professional-records service, and transcripts must not be relied on for medical, legal, or other decisions that require an accurate record.
8. Availability, data, and backups — no guarantee of preservation
We want Recordify to be dependable, but we cannot guarantee that the Service will always be available or that your content will be preserved. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. It may have outages, interruptions, bugs, or errors, and features may change or be discontinued. We do not promise that your recordings, transcripts, or other content will be stored forever or will never be lost. Content stored only on your device can be lost if your device is lost, damaged, or reset, or if the app is removed; cloud backup, where you enable it, reduces this risk but is not a guarantee of permanence. Please keep your own backups of anything important — for example by using cloud backup, the app's export features, your own connected storage account, or the native share sheet. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part; we will try to give reasonable notice where practical, and where reasonably possible we will give you an opportunity to export your cloud-stored content.
9. Plans, allowances, and limits
Recordify offers two plans: Free and Pro.
- Free. Includes instant recording and playback, manual notes, an account, and a limited number of active saved voice recordings (the current cap is shown in the app; recordings in Trash and manual text notes do not count). At the cap, creating new recordings is paused until you delete some or upgrade — the app never deletes or hides your existing recordings because of the cap, and playback, export, and deletion always keep working. Free also includes a recurring monthly transcription allowance (resets each month) and cloud backup for the recordings within the cap on a limited number of devices.
- Pro. A paid subscription with unlimited saved recordings (subject to fair-use storage limits), cloud backup/sync/restore across your devices, folders, transcript and note search, export and download features, a larger (but still capped) monthly transcription allowance, and future premium features. Pro is not yet available for purchase; see Section 10.
Allowances are shown in the app. The current transcription allowance, storage allowance, device limit, and your usage for the month are always displayed inside the app for your account. This document intentionally does not state allowance numbers; the in-app figures for your account are the ones that apply to you.
- Transcription use is limited by plan and monthly allowance on every plan. If you use up your allowance for the month, recordings still save normally on your device; transcription resumes when your allowance resets.
- Quotas, allowances, and limits may change. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, and it will apply prospectively.
- Recording time itself is not metered by the minute on any plan; the Free plan's limit is on the number of active saved recordings, not on how long any recording may be.
10. Subscriptions, billing, and renewal
Paid Pro subscriptions are not yet available for purchase. Nothing in the current version of Recordify charges you anything, and no payment information is collected. The billing terms below take effect only when subscriptions become available; prices and renewal terms will be presented to you clearly before you are charged anything.
- Store billing. On Android, Pro subscriptions will be purchased through Google Play's billing system, and your purchase will also be governed by Google Play's terms and payment methods. Inside the mobile app, we will not direct you to pay through an outside website or other external payment flow.
- Auto-renewal. Pro subscriptions will renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, as chosen) until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You will be able to cancel at any time through your Google Play account settings (Play Store → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops future charges. When you cancel or your subscription lapses, you keep Pro through the end of the period you already paid for, then your account returns to the Free plan. Recordings on your device stay on your device; content in cloud storage beyond Free-plan limits may become read-only or unavailable for new uploads until you free up space or resubscribe.
- Refunds. Refunds for purchases made through Google Play are generally handled under Google Play's refund policies, in addition to any rights you have under applicable law.
- Price changes. If subscription prices change, the change will apply no earlier than your next renewal, with advance notice and any consent required by the app store or applicable law.
11. Your data — privacy, export, and deletion
How we collect, use, store, and protect your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of your agreement with us. Key points: you can export your data (including a full export of your account data as a downloadable archive) free of charge; you can delete your account from within the app or on the web, with a cancelable 7-day grace period before permanent deletion of your account and cloud-stored content (except where limited retention is required, such as backups that roll off on a schedule or records we must keep to comply with law); deleting your account does not delete the recordings stored on your device; and items you delete in the app go to the Trash and are recoverable for 30 days before permanent removal. If anything in this section differs from the Privacy Policy, the Privacy Policy governs for privacy matters.
12. Intellectual property
Recordify owns the app, its software, design, look and feel, logos, and the Recordify name and brand. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the app except as allowed by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app as provided, for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms. Patent Pending.
You own your content — your recordings, transcripts, notes, and titles. We do not claim ownership of your content. To provide the Service to you, you grant Recordify a limited, non-exclusive license to store, transmit, and process your content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — for example, to save your recordings, to store and sync them in cloud backup when you turn it on, and to send audio to a third-party speech-to-text service when you request transcription. This license exists only to run the features you use and ends when your content is deleted, except where we must retain it briefly for backups or to comply with law. We do not use your recordings or transcripts to advertise to you, and we do not sell them.
13. Termination
By you. You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account in the app or on the web (Section 11). If you later have a paid subscription, cancel it through Google Play — deleting the app or your account does not by itself cancel a store-billed subscription.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service (or to cloud features) if you materially violate these Terms, misuse the Service, create risk or legal exposure for us or others, or where we are required to by law. Where practical and lawful, we will give you notice and a chance to export your cloud-stored content before termination takes effect; we may act immediately for serious violations.
Effect of termination. Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends and cloud-stored content becomes subject to deletion under the schedule described in the Privacy Policy. Recordings stored on your device remain on your device. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, and 14) survive.
14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
As is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that transcripts will be accurate. We make no medical, legal, security, or data-preservation guarantees.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recordify will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, recordings, content, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, such as posting the updated Terms, updating the effective date, or notifying you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service and, if applicable, delete your account.
16. Questions and disputes
If you have a question, problem, or dispute, contact us first at support@recordify.com — we will work with you in good faith to resolve it informally. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the place where you live.
